Funding Goal 

Due to limited local resources Project of hope for Specials Needs Children International is appealing for financial aid for the sum of $200,000 USD (Two hundred thousand US Dollars) to enable them to construct the Sunny View Public School in Hargeisa as well as to provide additional materials and specialized therapy equipments for the children.

Project of hope’s immediate goals are to:

  • Build a school for children with special needs and disabilities in Hargeisa, Somaliland, in collaboration with Sunny View Public School, Toronto, Canada.
  • Care and support the children with special needs and disabilities by providing them with basic necessities of live and live aids such as wheelchair, crutches, etc.
  • Coordinate new initiatives and projects that will share ideas, skills and resources for the children with special needs and disabilities in Somaliland.
  • Create a network of projects with the common purpose of supporting the educational and developmental needs of children with special needs and disabilities in Somaliland.
  • Raise awareness of children and youths with disabilities and special needs in all circumstances.
  • Advocate and campaign for people to change the way they think about, children with special needs and disabilities in all circumstances.
  • Through education and advocacy improve attitudes and enhance acceptance by all members of the society so that children receive the rights and services due to them as full members of the society.

Expected Outcome

The project is expected to establish wheelchair accessible school to be called the Sunny View Public School in Hargeisa, Somaliland. This will create opportunity for the thousands of children with special needs and disabilities to have the opportunity to receive basic education, basic life aids and equipments that will enable them to be educated. It will provide the setting for equipping children with special needs and disabilities with the tools they need to perform the activities of daily living, become fully integrated into society, obtain job skills for gainful employment, and the ability to contribute more meaningfully in society
